Tauranga South Community Patrol members are all dedicated volunteers who come from all kinds of working backgrounds - from a host of different trades and industries. One characteristic we all have in common though, is our keen and genuine desire to be of service to the local community, with particular focus on working with Police in the prevention of crime.
Our operation runs entirely on volunteer participation. To be a Community Patroller you are not required to have any formal qualifications, however, you do need to be fluent and literate in English and of course, have no recent criminal record.
The Profile Of An Ideal Community Patroller Would Include:
Minimum age 18
Be fluent in both written & spoken English.
A patroller must be physically fit and healthy
Possess great interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team with diverse personalities
Alert, with keen observation skills
Able to write a detailed report
Ability to use a Police radio
Able to show close attention to detail
Diplomatic in manner
Ability to focus and remain calm in stressful situations
Be able to show you have the ability to drive in a safe manner
Available for as little as 3 hours per month or more if you have time
(A typical patrol lasts for 3 hours)
Previous experience is not required as on-the-job training is provided
Without exception all who apply must:
Be able to pass Police vetting
Adhere to Police protocols and confidentiality and work under Health and Safety guidelines
